Irena Wisniewski (2)X

Born: April 6, 1926

Location: Painesdale, Michigan

My great-grandma, Irena Wisniewski, was born on April 6, 1926, and lived on a farm in Poland. During World War II she was taken from her home by German soldiers and placed in work camps in Germany until they were liberated by the American army. She got married in a displaced persons’ camp in Germany. Eventually, she and her family arrived in Painesdale, Michigan in March of 1952. Her husband, Piotr, worked in the Painesdale Copper Mine. She gave our family values and traditions. She picked and gave our family raspberries. Each Easter she would make Easter sausage. She still lives in Painesdale.
