Born: February 7, 1924

Location: Houghton, Michigan

My great-grandpa, Francis Manderfield, was born in Hancock, Michigan on February 7, 1924, and died in October 1990. My greatgrandpa was in World War II. There were many casualties in World War II, but my great-grandpa came out of the war alive. My great-grandpa was a janitor for the Douglas Agency in Houghton. He started there as soon as he got back from the war, and he was employed there until 1986, when he suffered a stroke. My great-grandpa was a member of the VFW Post in Houghton. He loved airplanes. He always built model airplanes, and he always loved anything that had to do with Amelia Earhart. My great-grandpa was a member of St. Ignatius church in Houghton where his brother, Fr. Paul Manderfield, was the priest. My great-grandpa had a grandson whose name was Steve, my dad. My great-grandpa has taught our family to have a lot of courage and work hard, and also to have a lot of hobbies to pass the time.
