Ellen Regina PennalaX

Born: March 29, 1912

Location: Michigan

My great-great grandma, Ellen Regina Pennala, was born in Laurium, Michigan on March 29, 1912. Ellen’s mom died when she was a teenager, so her aunt raised her until she married. She got cancer shortly after she was married, and it was hard for her to have her first child. Ellen and her husband moved to Detroit and lived on a farm. They worked on the farm, and she raised 6 children there. Ellen’s daughter, Ruth, later married. Ruth’s husband died, and Ellen helped Ruth raise her children. In her later years she started making quilts. She made over 100. She is survived by 100’s of great grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren. Ellen was very good-natured and positive. She always showed everyone love. Ellen called her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren all of her “gold.” My greatgreat grandma taught us to be good-natured, loving, and positive. She died on February 28, 2004.
